You might ask yourself, what is the difference between a general plumber versus a specialist hot water team such as Newpoint Hot Water. There are several key benefits why a specialist hot water team is the right choice over a general plumber, these include:

  • Price
  • Quality
  • Experience
  • Licensing
  • Insurance

Price:

At Newpoint Hot Water, we specialise in hot water heaters. This means that we have a strong foundation of contacts, suppliers and representatives across the hot water industry. With this, we have been able to generate competitive pricing and pass savings onto our clients, often being much more competitive than a general plumbers pricing.

Quality:

Quality is one of the fundamentals of our business. Every job reflects the highest quality of workmanship to meet our customers satisfaction & maintain our reputation of being the leaders in the hot water industry. Every task undertaken is completed with the highest quality of materials & equipment to ensure that your investment is installed to last.

Experience:

Hot water is what we do. We know the ins and outs of hot water and have been in the industry for decades. There's not much we haven't seen and not much we can't handle. Our experience brings us a wealth of knowledge which allows us to recommend the best possible hot water system for every installation. Our experience allows us to cater to the specific needs of our clients. No matter whether you want energy efficiency, additional hot water, systems to suit solar panels & battery walls or just after something specific, the team at Newpoint Hot Water will be able to assist.

Licensing:

At Newpoint Hot Water, we are fully licensed for plumbing, electrical & gas-fitting. We have team members who are trained and proficient in these areas specific to hot water. This means you only need one trusted team to attend for all your hot water needs. Whereas a general plumber may be able to conduct plumbing work, but if further electrical work is required the client would need to organise a seperate electrician, potentially resulting in higher costs and a less efficient install as well as greater time without hot water. At Newpoint Hot Water, we have in-house fully licensed plumbers, electricians & gas-fitters.

Insurance:

When it comes to hot water, it's important to understand that there are three main elements. Water, gas and electricity. At Newpoint Hot Water, we are insured to work with all three elements, meaning that you have a trusted team insured to conduct all types of hot water work.

When purchasing a new hot water system or replacing an existing one, several considerations come into play such as:

  • Purchase costs of various types of hot water systems.
  • The timing of hot water usage throughout the day.
  • The size of your residence & the number of hot water outlets.
  • The number of occupants in your household.
  • The energy options accessible in your area such as Gas, LPG or Electricity .

When comparing gas and electric hot water systems, each offers unique benefits suited to different needs:

Gas Hot Water Systems:

  • Rapid heating capabilities, providing hot water on demand.
  • Ideal for larger households with high hot water usage.
  • More energy-efficient, potentially leading to cost savings over time.
  • Unaffected by power outages, ensuring continuous hot water supply during emergencies.
  • Generally, will take up less space.

Electric Hot Water Systems:

  • More affordable to install and maintain upfront.
  • Precise temperature control for comfort.
  • Quieter operation compared to gas systems.
  • Environmentally friendly with zero emissions at the point of use.
  • Versatile installation options, suitable for a wider range of locations.

Ultimately, the choice between gas and electric hot water systems depends on factors such as budget, household size, energy efficiency goals, and personal preferences.

While an electric system can indeed replace a gas system if electricity is available on site, there are important considerations to take into account:

       1. Location of the Pipework:

  • Transitioning from a gas to an electric system may require adjustments to the water pipework layout. The installer might need to modify the path of the pipework to accommodate the new system.

       2. Existing Gas Line:

  • It's essential to ensure that the existing gas line is properly sealed or 'capped' to prevent gas leakage into the environment. This task should be carried out by a licensed professionals such as Newpoint Hot Water due to the associated safety risks.

This will be contingent upon the existing infrastructure at your location. If you already have access to gas on site, transitioning to a gas system is feasible, although there are several factors to bear in mind:

        1.Location of the System:

  • For indoor installations, space considerations become crucial, particularly regarding the accommodation of fluing for exhaust fumes. Additionally, the availability of adequate space should be assessed.

2.Gas Price and Size of Gas Line:

  • Evaluating the cost of gas in your area is essential. Moreover, the size of the existing gas line needs to be examined, as certain systems may necessitate a larger gas line for operation.

LPG hot water systems are available at Newpoint Hot Water. This allows the homeowner to utilise gas hot water without a street gas connection. LPG bottles will need to be arranged through your preferred gas provider. If this is a new installation, pipework/gas lines will need to be installed between your LPG bottles and your new heater.
